My Black & Decker 1/4" drill purchased new in the late 1960s still works. My B&D belt sander and 1/3 (or 1/4 sheet) sheet sander purchased in the last 15 years both died within five years. Do not necessarily like the weight (or supporting china) but my Harbor Freight 3" and 4" belt sanders, 1/4 sheet sander, and random orbit sander have been holding up - IF they worked for the first five hours.
Oh well.
