How to do the ramp test

Also notice the distance from the nozzle to the work space is adjusted quite close. Only 5mm in this case and one of the benefits of having a nozzle exit close to the work piece is that the air assist has greatest effect near the nozzle exit hole.

I’ve seen laser nozzles with ~3mm exit holes close to 60mm away from the work piece and it requires lots and lots of air flow and pressure to get that air assist to clear out the cuts. Some lasers use a small diameter metal tube mounted to the laser head and extending close to the workpiece for good air assist. I’ve seen this on Epilog lasers and may DIY K40 users do this also.
