For those of you who own or aspire to own a CNC, the cost of VCarve Pro at $700 looms large. It’s a great package but at the Shop we teach using both VCarve and Carbide Create, where the latter is free. While there is an obvious gap in capability between the two but that gap continues to narrow. Capable V-carving has been a weakness in Carbide Create, a weakness they’ve addressed with their recent upgrade.
Carbide Create now has an advanced V-carving toolpath.
Where before you could only carve with a V-bit,
now you can choose a second clearing bit.
Below the triangles are cleared with a 1/8" flat end mill.
