CNC SIG - What is I-Wood?

The CNC SIG Meetings have been moved to the third Saturday of each month, which makes this Saturday at 10:00 AM time for another CNC SIG.

This month will feature a special guest, Chris Scott from treecycling.com and IWoodKits.com. Chris is an advocate of sustainable lumber and has a project where he is looking to create ready-to-assemble boxes using recycled lumber. This would be a fun way to use some of our quarantine time and divert some wood from the landfill.

He has developed an interesting way to do this with special router bits, but there is potential to convert the design to an efficient CNC job to make the processing very quick and efficient.

Chris will have 10-15 minutes and then we will move to a round table where we can discuss recent projects we’ve been working on and any other topics we care to.

Here is the latest CNC SIG Video:

Chris Scott from treecycling.com and IWoodKits.com joined us and shared a project he launched involving wood box kits and a challenge to us to learn ways to convert this idea to a CNC project. In so doing we can:

  • Divert wood from the landfill
  • Make good use of our pandemic isolation time
  • Raise money for charitable organizations.
