Experimenting with masking tape on wood

I put a layer of Scotch 2080 on some baltic ply, then tried to cut it with my Ortur. nothing.

Same settings, but I put a layer of sharpie over it:

I went to Ace and bought a roll of Scotch 2093. The left target outline is 250/100, the interior is 250.20. The right target is 2500/100.

I peeled the tape off without any attempts at picking carefully.

Here it is after I scraped off the rest of the tape.

I think if you wanted to mask a design onto wood, without marking the wood, you could get there dialing down the settings for the right logo. If the wood burnt edge is part of your esthetic, the settings on the left might work.

Have you tried Transfer Paper? The adhesives on masking tape are a PIA to deal with, even the painters tape type.

Thank you - I had not. I ended up buying a different product that is 6" x 100’. It should be here soon - I’ll let you know how it goes.
