Fusion 360 SIG - Animation

You may think doing animation in Fusion 360 is The Incredibles, but this is not movie type animation. I could claim it’s possible, but that would make me Pinocchio. Stop thinking about making a Toy Story on your laptop. Your current designs may seem Frozen, so let’s liven them Up.

Animation in 3D CAD is typically used to either simulate mechanical movement of an assembly we have designed or altered, or to make a video version of an “exploded” Assembly. No fireworks or ordinance here, exploded refers to showing parts moved away from their place in the assembly so that we can demonstrate how a product is assembled, or show parts lists.

Monday evening, July 20, let’s explore animation in our SIG meeting. If you want to explore the subject in advance, here is one good video.

Hopefully, some of you have played with Animation and have something to show the group. Or you have done something interesting or useful - please share. General discussion towards the end, along with the nightcap of your choice if you wish!

Here is another good video for comparison. The first video covers more of the exploded assembly approach, while this second one is a more typical animation of a design. The functionality is quite basic, but still looks cool.

Hi all,

Here is the video from the session on Animation.

We start with a quick review of a curved plug for Rob’s Pachy bank.
At 17:30 we cover Animation
At 1:05:45 we start a general discussion that wanders into multiple subjects.

Enjoy!
