Holiday Build Laser

An item needed for a Holiday Build toy were designed in CAD, manufactured in CAM. If you want time experiencing this process, join the Holiday Builds, see what needs to be done, and gain experience in this workflow while helping SDFWA build items for year end sale.
These were tires needed for a car build, a bunch required. Tires were constructed of a ‘sandwich’ of 3 laser cut tire sections, one with central spokes as the meat and two of outside of tire as the bread. “Sandwich” was then glued up and turned to final profile on lathe.

Here are some designs I’ve come up with for Jim Bradbury’s tea light lanterns. I’m thinking that vellum glued on the back side will provide strength for the delicate parts and also provide diffused light like my light table does.

The detail of the duck wings is lovely … I like that design.
Such a great trick preserving tabs to keep stuff suspended.
For all practical purposes that Christmas tree should fall out!

When the Shop opens do people just show up on a Friday morning?
If they have laser skills then do they just “go to work”?
How about during the self-isolation period.
Can those with lasers help now?
