I am new to Fusion 360 and Ortur lasers so I decided to “learn with a purpose”. I designed the UV protective shield in Fusion, ordered five 12x12 plates of UV plexiglass, two muffin fans and built the shield. Lots of mistakes and oversights were encountered but I learned a few things along the way.
I’m the same way in that it really helps having a purpose when learning a new tool.
Results came out well even if the trip there was a little rough.
Where did you get the shield material and is it shielding for 445 ± 5nm( blue laser)? I want to build a skirt type protector for my laser instead of a full case althought the case could even be the carrying/storage box. Hmmm.
That’s wonderful Jim!
I especially like the unobstructed view.
Where did you source you plexiglass and at what cost?
I did a quick search on 445nm shielding and found this stuff which shields from 250nm - 520nm.
I bought 5 sheets of J Tech Photonics 250-520nm Laser Shielding for $98 including tax & shipping. I cut 4 of the 5 sheets into 4 x 12 and 8 x 12 pieces, glued them together (plexiglass adhesive) to make the 12 x 16 x 8 cover. The Laser Shielding source was mentioned previously in a Zoom chat (or the Forum, I don’t remember for sure).
Nice. I was just thinking of making something similar, but was unsure on which plexiglass to buy
